Powertrain Engineer – Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)
We are seeking a talented and innovative Powertrain Engineer to join our dynamic aircraft engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for design, development, optimization and integration of powertrain systems for our next generation of unmanned aerial systems.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, development and optimization of powertrain components and systems including electric, ICE and hybrid powertrains
- Perform market research, comparison, engineering calculations and selection of powertrain components (e.g. jet engines, internal combustion engines, electric motors, batteries, transmissions)
- Analyze and solve engineering problems related to powertrain performance and efficiency
- Design and simulation of powertrain systems using CAD software and other engineering tools
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate powertrain components into overall aircraft design
- Optimize powertrain performance and fuel/battery efficiency to meet given requirements
- Ensure thorough documentation of development processes, calculations, and results
- Generate and manage powertrain test plans
- Perform data analysis and root cause analysis to identify and resolve powertrain issues
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in powertrain engineering, including electrification and hybrid systems
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure design meets performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Update and revise existing CAD models and drawings based on feedback, design changes, or new requirements
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in powertrain engineering or related field
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
- Experience with Simulink, MATLAB or other engineering tool is preferred
- Strong understanding of ICE/electric/hybrid motors, power electronics, and battery systems
- Experience with electric/hybrid powertrain control systems and energy management strategies
- Prior experience in the aeronautical industry or a related field is desirable
- Fluent in English language (minimum C1 level), both spoken and written
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members to develop and refine designs
- High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously is required
